Robert Angell will present an interactive workshop, "The Culture of Fear: Recognizing and Managing Your Clients' Expectations" at the second annual Climbing Wall Summit and Manufacturers' Symposium, May 1-4, 2008, at the Boulder Outlook Hotel in Boulder, Colorado. This workshop will explore the assumptions of parents and other sponsors of sport climbers in a society which seems to be growing more fearful, more watchful, and more protective of children. Bob is a member of the Board of Directors of the Climbing Wall Association (CWA). For more information on the CWA and the 2008 Summit, go to www.climbingwallindustry.org1.

Our office prevailed on behalf of a dentist client who was accused of providing treatment that fell below the standard of care for dentists in Ohio. The client provided a set of immediate dentures to the patient. A year later, the patient returned to the office, complaining of retention problems with the upper denture. An expert witness for the State testified that the dentures suffered from "severe and serious deficiencies in the areas of ... function." We contended that the patient's retention problems resulted from the healing process after his teeth were extracted, and that the patient would not allow our client to make routine adjustments. After a hearing before an attorney hearing examiner and deliberation by the Ohio State Dental Board, the Board concluded that any errors by our client did not rise to the level of a violation of the standard of care, and dismissed the case. In Re R.B., D.D.S, Case No. 06-60-0019, Ohio State Dental Board, February 27, 2008.
